1. What is JSAP?

JSAP means ‘The Junior Secondary Aptitude Placement’ Test (JSAP). It is a comprehensive, standardized computer-based aptitude placement assessment designed specifically for students completing Junior Secondary School (JSS3/Grade 9). It is yearly administered to evaluate each student's academic aptitude, area of interest and potential for future studies in order to determine the most appropriate senior secondary school (SSS) academic subject direction.

The Junior Secondary Aptitude Placement Test (JSAP) also helps schools identify students whose interests and aptitude may be better suited to technical, vocational, entrepreneurial, or skills-based education. While many students thrive in academic learning leading to university education, others demonstrate stronger practical, mechanical, technical, artistic, or entrepreneurial potential. These students may prefer, and are often more likely to excel in vocational and technical training, where they can develop valuable skills that lead to rewarding careers and self-employment opportunities.

Unlike conventional school examinations that primarily measure academic achievement, the JSAP assesses a student's natural abilities and capacity to succeed in different fields of study/skill training. It provides schools with objective and scientific evidence for placing students into suitable Senior Secondary subject areas such as Science, Arts, Commercial, Technology, or other vocationally oriented pathways.
